App Find: Explore YouTube GO!

YouTube has launched YouTube Go, a brand new app built with the intent to improve user experience on the app, allowing users watch their favorite videos and content that matter to them while using very little data. Cool right?

After it’s first launch in India, YouTube Go has now been launched in 14 additional countries, including Indonesia, Nigeria and Thailand, and it’s quite the impressive app for lovers of video content on the go. (see what I did there?) wink

YouTube Go was designed to give users access to YouTube regardless of connectivity status with users having more control over data usage, while being locally and socially relevant.

Important features of YouTube Go include:

Video Content For You: The YouTube Go home screen features trending and popular videos in your area, so that you can find and discover videos that are relevant to your community. The entire experience is available in your language, with videos that are relevant to you.

User Experience Control: On YouTube Go, you’ll see a video preview when you hover on a thumbnail, giving you a better sense of what the video is about before you decide if you want to watch it. You can then choose to download the video for viewing later or choose to stream it now. You also get to choose the amount of data you’d like to spend on that video.

Share videos with friends: With YouTube Go, you can share videos with friends and family nearby without using any data.

Considering the fact that data connection issues are one of the biggest constraints most users in developing countries face, YouTube GO is definitely a welcome development. Think of all the cool videos you can watch on the go without having to worry about how much data you are burning.
