YouTube has announced that from December 13 to December 14 2018, channel owners might notice a substantial decrease in subscriber counts as they intend to remove spammy accounts from your channel. YouTube is deleting fake accounts and your subscriber count is about to decrease, big time!
Subscribers counts are like the ultimate goal of owning a YouTube channel, only of course after racking up considerable watch hours and views, and as such, this is a very big deal for channel managers and YouTube creators.

This is definitely a very bad time for users who have not built their subscriber counts organically, as this account removal exercise may mean bad business for you. YouTube intends to remove closed accounts – inactive accounts – and spammy subscribers, which are according to YouTube, ‘subscribers gained through artificial means, such as purchasing subscribers through a third party service’. Scary huh?
If you have been growing your channel organically, then this piece of information really should not bother you at all, and if you haven’t?well, sorry in advance. Here’s a few things you can do to grow your channel organically going forward:
Engage Your Fans
So one thing I have noticed is that a substantial number of people who watch the videos on the channel I manage actually are not subscribed to the channel. As you can guess already, my biggest goal has been to convert visiting fans into subscribers, and I have been able to achieve a level of success with this by creating more build up to the release of content using the new premiere feature on YouTube. I will do a separate post on this in the nearest future.
You can also make use of the new stories feature to increase your engagement, while using that as an avenue to try to spur conversions.

Use Your Social Media
Your social media pages are an important aspect of your channel’s growth, and so you should make sure that you share your content on these platforms, that way you can drive traffic from your social pages to your channel.
Embed Call to Action in your content
It is always advisable to add layers of call to action within your content, so that your viewers can see live prompts from you urging them to take action and subscribe to your channel. You can also add incentives like giveaways to boost subscriber growth.
